CAFFEINE (London, 2023)

Fitness & News Editorial

June 2023, George Wood Theatre, London (UK)

CAFFEINE is a solo work of experimental theatre that interrogates the psycho-performativity of masculinity within Algerian café cultures - El Kahwa. Engaging with spaces structured by tacit ‘men-only’ codes of access and belonging, the piece situates the café as stage and site where gendered identities are rehearsed, embodied, and constructed.

Set within a figmental ghost café, CAFFEINE blends performance and research to probe the spatial, sensory, and mnemonic dimensions of masculinity, prompting audiences to reflect on the entanglement of personal memory and collective postcolonial imaginaries.
